When west side residents head for the Emergency Department in the future, they're going to see some big changes.

Doctors Hospital is putting finishing touches on the new ED that will almost triple the amount of space there. It includes two trauma rooms, seven triage rooms and 50 patient rooms.

Staff at the nursing stations can watch eight rooms all at once, in person as well as on monitors. It is all for better patient care.

"They will be able to get into a bed a little bit quicker - we didn't have that many beds - we're more than doubling our beds," said Emergency Department Medical Director Bruce Jones. "And, we also have a lot of technological advances: brand new monitors, brand new computers in every single room."

Doctors new Emergency Department opens on June 9.
